I'm not sure how the other commenter could say there is "no leavening" in this, when like all the other mayonnaise biscuits here, this calls for self-rising flour.

There are several other recipes like this on Recipezaar- they use self-rising flour. Without any leavening I don't see how these couldn't come out as hockey pucks. See Mayonnaise Biscuits or #91092.

I made this recipe twice.Thought I had done something wrong the first time.These biscuits came out BOTH times like hockey pucks.With the 5* rating I thought wow,a winner! I threw both batches in the garbage.Oh, (no way), stated in (4) pour batter into the pan.This batter does not pour.I wonder if the 3/4 cup milk could be wrong.But Darlene said the biscuits were good.:0(
