Mast-O Musir - Persian Yogurt Dip With Shallots

A delicious and creamy side that goes with almost anything, like pita chips, lavash bread, ruffled potato chips, or basmati rice. From My Persian Kitchen.


  1. Finely dice your shallot.
  2. In a bowl, mix the yogurts and shallots thoroughly.
  3. Cover and place in the fridge 2 to 3 hours.

This is good. I did change the shallot to sweet white onion with a tiny bit of mashed garlic. I do find shallots slightly strong. Even this was a bit strong but it went well with Mjadra - Lentils and Rice and a salad, for a basic meal. I used Balkan (thick) yogurt and a little water to thin somewhat. No nonfat yogurt. I may make this again. Made for PAC (Pick A Chef) Spring 2011.
