We enjoyed this salad. I added in some craisins and walnuts and omitted the cheese. It really spiked up the flavors and was good along with our chicken on the grill and macaroni salad. I will make again sometime with my substitutions. Karen
WOW! This has always been one of my favorites. However, I've never tried making it myslef. I could eat it all by myself!...but I won't. :) I cut the recipe down to 3-4 servings as I am really the only one in my house who eats fresh broccoli. I love this after it sits and chills in the refrigerator for a few hours. The tastes really mix together, and it's fabulous! I also used Splenda instead of sugar. For mayo, I used the Smart Balance mayo. Turkey bacon is a great substitute for the real bacon. This is a wonderfully delicious and healthy meal or side dish. Thanks for the recipe.
I really loved this, much sweeter than I anticipated, but still really great. Make sure you chop up the broccoli so it's bite sized.
This was good but a little to chunky for my taste. Next time I'm going to dice the onion and use finly grated chedder. I blanched the brocolli first by steaming it for about 2 minutes.
I have been making a variation of this salad for years. I use Morning Star Veggie Bacon, no onion and white vinegar with 1/2 cup sunflower seeds. It's great! Double the batch, everyone loves it!
Very tasty and easy to make. Thanks for sharing it :)
Wonderful! I'm tired of the same old broccoli side dishes and was looking for a different way to serve up broccoli to my family for dinner and came across this one. Total winner! I used bacon bits and pre-steamed the broccoli for a couple of minutes before mixing all together. I cut the sugar and used low fat mayo and low fat cheddar. Excellent! Whole family enjoyed. Will make again.
Made this last night and we all loved it! I will make this often. I used Light Mayo and only 5 slices of bacon. Thanks Christine!
I got this recipe from a friend a long time ago, it is one of my favorite salads. Glad to see it posted here. I use white vinegar and double the dressing and put it on an hour or two before serving so it has time to mix flavors. Also good with sunflower seeds sprinkled on top.
Tastes even better than my favorite deli's version. Alot less expensive too.
