I make these for barbeques. The guys always gobble them up.
- 1 Spanish onion (sliced thin)
- 1 cup white sugar (or less)
- 1 cup vinegar
- cold water, to cover
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Let onions stand in cold water 1 hour.
- combine remaining ingred.
- Heat until sugar disolves and pour over onions.
