gets icky after a couple days in the fridge. very strong flavor. you don't need a huge piece.
I adapted this recipe by pouring the filling into individual sized graham cracker crusts and serving them at a Cinco de Mayo party. Everyone loved them and they were really very easy to make. This is also a very good dessert to make ahead since they need to be frozen. I left mine in the freezer over night and they were perfect!
I have been making this pie for about 30 yrs. I too make a pretzel crust using 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels, 10 tablespoon melted butter and 1/4 cup sugar. I also substitute Cool Whip for whipped cream. The pie lasts longer. I have been taking 2 pies to the Super Bowl parties for 23 yrs. The host puts one in a different fridge so he has it all for himself.

WOW ........... the grand finale to my Mexican fiesta! Like Trudy, I could only find an 8 oz tin of condensed milk so it may have bbeen a little boozier - but nobody complained (LOL) and I'd do the same next time. Thanx RMG!
As I could only find 8 oz tin condensed milk, it perhaps was a bit boozier than intended. The next time, I think I'll add 1/2 cup more of whipping cream. It was smooth and refreshing. Needless to say, it was a hit and is definitely a keeper. Love the fact that it can be made ahead of time. Trudy from Nova Scotia
Outstanding!!! I doubled the recipe and made two pies to bring for a work potluck. One person said it was "awesome", and another said, "It tastes just like a margarita!" (Well, of course, hence the name! LOL) I'd be willing to bet I could get a really good raise this year if I made my boss one for Christmas! LOL I folllowed the recipe exactly and froze the pies overnight. This is DEFINITELY a keeper - easy and super-good!
