This is another of many recipes I have come across that require wine. I flat out don't like it and know virtually nothing about it. I am, however, smart enough to realize it's value in cooking. So my question is - when I need a dry red or white wine to cook with what kind do I buy? Not what brand, what kind?

I thought this was very good. Nice suptle maple flavor with great veggies and beef. Too bad I'm the only one that cared for it. I made a non-alcoholic version, subbing cranberry juice for the wine and I used beef broth instead of water. I browned my beef and threw it all in the crockpot for 8 hours on low. Very yummy. The lefovers went into the freezer for lunches another time. Thanks for the great recipe.
