I think this is the most flavourful stew I've ever had. Don't skip out on the wine - it makes your house smell great and gives the stew great flavour. I like to make this in the slow-cooker.

I thought this was very good. Nice suptle maple flavor with great veggies and beef. Too bad I'm the only one that cared for it. I made a non-alcoholic version, subbing cranberry juice for the wine and I used beef broth instead of water. I browned my beef and threw it all in the crockpot for 8 hours on low. Very yummy. The lefovers went into the freezer for lunches another time. Thanks for the great recipe.
