- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat syrup until it reaches the soft-ball stage (appx 235-240*). Add butter and stir until melts. Pour in a deep bowl and beat with electric mixer until spread is thick and creamy.

Made for My 3 Chefs 2008. We just love maple syrup and I was excited to try this. It was really good. I only made half of the recipe. Now, I have a new favorite topping for my waffles that I eat in the car on the way to work. Thanks SmHerndon for posting this!
