  1. After repeated disastrous attempts at preparing steel cut oats in the microwave I went to the internet to find another method of cooking these oats. I tried this recipe and will look no further. I used Pam to coat the crock pot which made clean up a breeze. The oatmeal was perfect and I loved having it ready and hot for me first thing in the morning. This recipe is a keeper.

  2. Loved this. This was my first time cooking steel cut oats and they were the perfect consistency. I used 3 cups of water and 1 1/2 milk for the liquid, and used the recommended amounts of brown sugar, pecans, and syrup, but ended up putting another spoonful of the sugar, more pecans, and more maple syrup on each serving to get it to the right flavor. I will definitely use this again. It's like comfort food! Also: I sprayed the crock pot down good with non-stick spray before cooking so cleanup wasn't a big issue.

  3. Tastes good, easy to make the night before & wake up to steel cut oatmeal. Clean-up problem solved by spraying the pot with Pam before adding oats & water.

  4. This tastes really good ! but the texture was not to our liking . My crock pot was a mess .The clean up on this one just wasn't worth it for me .Sorry!

  5. Thanks for this recipe. I just got my 1.5 qt. crockpot & enjoyed this recipe this morning. I did not use the pecans, sugar, or maple syrup. I used Splenda, fat-free 1/2 & 1/2, and caramel flavoring. Yummy!
