You can use Arrow Root in place of cornstarch to make it low carb. People need to relax about the cornstarch being in it. If you are a low carb fan like myself -- you would have know about the substitution. It looks like a great recipe and I will come back to comment on it when I make it.
This recipe easy to make, and taste very good. My family really rave about this.
I agree with the comment above. I am a canner and I actually have used the Clear Jel, which by the way, is what is actually used to make any syrup that is not real actual maple syrup. I bought it on Amazon and you can get it in small amounts there.Worth every penny and it's not expensive. But most of all....nutrition label say no carbs!
Sorry. We tried this and had to throw the batch out. We have been on Atkins for a month and would just rather pay for his expensive syrup.
In all fairness, I have not tried any other low-carb/sugar free syrups. However, I do not care for the taste at all. :(
I have made this several times and WE LOVE IT.. thank you so much for this one.. I have used store bought for many years and this is even better.. I do not notice the aftertaste they mention. I use Clear Jel to thicken...... I keep this made up..I hope to Can it for myself.. Still checking on that..but to me THIS IS THE BEST...
I agree that this is better than most store bought sugar-free syrups, but it did have an after taste. I may try again with less Splenda or other flavors.
This was better than store bought sugar-free syrup. Usually I don't mind Splenda but it had a funny after taste in this.
I haven't tried this recipe...because it isn't low carb!! Have you ever looked at how many cabrs are in corn starch? 1 tbsp contains 7.4g...if you only use 1 tbsp...maybe you can make it work...but any more and it's bye bye low carb. Atkins makes a thick and thin not/ starch product...use that!
