This was my first attempt at making tempeh, and I am happy I chose this recipe. The sauce turned out like a bbq sauce, and the texture of the tempeh was a bit chewy, which I liked. I posted a picture of the tempeh for others to see.
Delicious! Very flavorful... Anything would be wonderful made with this sauce! Yum Yum....
Very good and easy tempeh dish! I ended up with more marinade than I thought I would, but it would be good to use with tofu or something else... I put my tempeh over room temperature baby spinach and it was a nice combo. The spinach helped balance out the sweet and tangy flavor of the tempeh.
The marinade is like a barbecue sauce, and the amount of oil gives it a richness. I ate this with brown rice and steamed green beans. It was a vegan dinner that felt like a stick-to-your-ribs, meat-and-potatoes American meal.
I thought this was just OK. The cumin kind of overtook the other flavors. If i try it again i'll definately scale way back on that. I expected it to be a bit sweeter. I did use sugar free syrup without thinking which may have been the problem.
Oh, yumm! This is my new favorite way to make tempeh. I love the sweet/hot combo. I did make a change- I left out all of the oil and replaced it with water. Because of this, the sauce was thinner than it would have been and so I cooked it the whole time without the foil. Worked like a charm. I served it over brown rice with a side of steamed broccoli. Thank you for posting, I will make this again and again.
This is the best tempeh I've ever made! The flavors are just perfect. My husband and I had it it with broccoli and mac and cheese and it was so savory and satisfying. I can't wait to use it in more ways.
