I liked this toni. I gave it a 4 only because I was expecting more of a bar cookie. They were more like a dense spice cake. I agree with the changes Susie suggested above. This one really intrigued me as I love Fig Newtons but not the calories & fat. It's surprisingly moist but not figgie enough for my taste. I hadn't planned on making the icing but did for added flavor. Changes I would make - add maple flavoring to the cake as well as the icing, double the amount of figs & perhaps bake in a larger pan to give a bar cookie appearance. This is defintely a recipe I'll keep & tinker with till I get my very own Fig Newtons! Thanks so much for posting this!people found this review Helpful.
