Maple Cupcakes With Maple Frosting

"this makes about 18...for some added sweetness...make a well in center of frosted cupcake..drizzle a small amount of maple syrup"

• 2 1⁄2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 3⁄4 teaspoon ginger
• 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
• 1⁄2 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 2 large eggs
• 1 1⁄4 cups maple syrup
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
• 1⁄2 cup finely chopped walnuts

• MAPLE FROSTING

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 2⁄3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
• 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
• 3⁄4 cup maple syrup
• 3⁄4 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup powdered sugar

directions

1. sift cupcake dry ingredients and set aside --
2. preheat oven to 350* --
3. beat butter and sugar together using a mixer, -- set on medium speed in a large bowl till fluffy --
4. beat in eggs, syrup and vanilla --
5. stir in flour mixture by thirds -- alternate with buttermilk.
6. stir in nuts -- drop in paper cupcake lined muffin tins --
7. bake almost 20 minutes -- .
