I made this, at my husband's request, many, many times after we were first married. He still requests it after 32 years! This recipe came from the back of a mayonnaise jar.

This is a great surprise recipe! Like another reviewer, when I saw mayonnaise listed I was very hesitant to try this recipe. But , it had a quick prep time , which is what I was looking for that day. I DID make a substitution. I love ricotta cheese, so used that in place of the cottage cheese. Followed everything else as written though. Delicious!!!!! The mayonnaise gives it a different flavor but not mayonnaise y at all ... more of a rich , creamy flavor. I made these for our lunch at work , they reheat very well too. Also, to fill very easily and quickly, I just use my pastry bag without putting a tip on it ... that way the burger mixture can squeeze right through into the manicotti .. sure saved me time trying to fill them! Thanks so much for posting this easy, tasty Manicotti recipe!

This was my brother and my favorite thing in the whole world when we were kids. We would always ask for this for dinner on our birthdays. It came off of the back of a "Best Foods" Mayonnaise jar (AKA Hellmans) I now make it for my kids and they love it too. I have made it lighter (when I feel like being good...) by using reduced fat or fat free ricotta instead of the cottage cheese and ground turkey instead of the ground beef. TIP: When you boil the manicotti, don't cook it till it is tender. When you try to fill it they tear. Leave the manicotti a little firm. When you bake it with the sauce it will soften up the rest of the way.

I'm ever so grateful for the internet! My mom used to make this when I was a kid, and I loved it....still do! We both have lost the recipe through the years, and on a whim, I entered some of the ingredients into a search on the internet. Thanks TansGram for posting! Thrilled to have the recipe again!!!!!
