I had this at a friend's house and when we got home, my husband insisted that I call her to get the recipe - so I did.
- 5 cortland apples, peeled and sliced
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Placed sliced apples in an 8X8 oven safe dish.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Mix the remaining ingredients and spread over the top.
- Bake for 1 hour.
This recipe is wonderful! Using my apple peeler/slicer, it took literally 5 minutes to get together. Simple ingredients, no mixer needed. I used 5 Gala apples, and sprinkled a little bit of cinnamon sugar on top of the "batter" - my husband enjoyed the extra little "crunch" it gave. Will be making this again!
Easy and tasty. I mixed the apples into the batter (i used 3 apples instead of 5) and it came out very nicely. I would recommend using an oven to table baking dish to serve this as it doesn't cut out in a perfect square. (Not complaining for only one egg...)
I made this and it came out really good, thanks!
