  1. This recipe is wonderful! Using my apple peeler/slicer, it took literally 5 minutes to get together. Simple ingredients, no mixer needed. I used 5 Gala apples, and sprinkled a little bit of cinnamon sugar on top of the "batter" - my husband enjoyed the extra little "crunch" it gave. Will be making this again!

  2. Easy and tasty. I mixed the apples into the batter (i used 3 apples instead of 5) and it came out very nicely. I would recommend using an oven to table baking dish to serve this as it doesn't cut out in a perfect square. (Not complaining for only one egg...)

  3. I made this and it came out really good, thanks!

  4. This was a delicious apple cake/kugel and was especially enjoyed by DH who has an enormous sweet tooth and this was exactly how he likes it. I also doubled the topping which worked out nicely.

  5. This would be 5 stars, because I think I know how it's supposed to turn out, but because of the way it's written I gave it three. I sliced the apples and sprinkled with the 1/2 cup sugar when I realized that it was written a little backwards. I am assuming the 1/2 cup sugar goes with the oil, flour, egg,bp & vanilla..and that's the topping? I don't know if you can "revise" a recipe, but if you can, you may want to. I will try this recipe again that way and I am sure it will turn out as was originally intended. What I DID like was how flavorful this was and will try this again after apple picking next week. Thank you for sharing! LA

Tweaks

  1. 9x12 pan berry variation: Cover bottom of pan with a single layer of berries. I use frozen triple berry organic blend from Costco. (No need to defrost). Then take the same ingredients above but increase by half: for example, 3/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/2. Also, I use coconut oil. YUM!

I'm a 27 year old mother of one and I LOVE cooking. Unfortunately, my husband and I have become very strict dieters (we've both lost over 50 lbs.!) and don't eat most of the stuff I love to cook - so I plan elaborate parties for all of our friends and make a giant buffet of everything I like to cook! It's been working out well and we have TONS of new friends!
