This pie is a little different....the crust is made of a baked meringue that contains graham cracker crumbs, chocolate, and pecans! From the "Family and Company" cookbook. Please note: Cooking and prep time does not include chilling time!

Breezer, you went 3 for 3, tonight.. Just completed all 3 of my choices for you win in April I recommend , and by far, this did not dissapoint either, other than the fight now for 2nd's and the treadmill. Made this as posted, and it again was a nice dessert to touch your lovely dinner with recipe#379532#379532 and recipe#446478#446478.. definately would suggest all 3 of these recipes in a 1 night meal. Definately was a wonderful 3 some. Made for your win in April I recommend..

  1. Combine 1 cup sugar and baking powder in a small bowl. Stir well and set aside.
  2. Beat egg whites and salt at a high speed of an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add the reserved sugar mixture, 1 tbsp at a time, beating until stif peaks form and the sugar dissloves (2 to 4 minutes). Gently fold in graham cracker crumbs, 4 ounces of grated chocolate, pecans, and 1 tsp vanilla. Spoon into a buttered 10-inch pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Combine the remaining 1 tsp vanilla, coffee granules and water, stirring until the coffee granules dissolve. Combine coffee misture, whipping cream, and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
  4. Beat the whipping cream mixture until stiff peaks form; spoon into the center of the pie. Spread evenly, leaving a 1 inch border around the edge of the pie. Sprinkle with 2 oz grated chocolate. Cover and chill 1 hour.
