I have made these with plain chocolate chips, and my dad just absolutely went crazy over them!! I also like to add chopped walnuts for a little crunch. I can't wait to try them with the peanut butter-chocolate chips!!! Great recipe! ~Manda
Actually, when making these using Carnation brand condensed milk, I noticed they have this recipe on the inside of their label. Anyways, they say to press down on everything when you have it all layered, assuming you put the milk on the bottom. This helps to make things stay together better. Also, I used a pyrex dish, and I put the temp. on 325 for 20 mins. and then 350 for 5. This helped to cut down on the burning and crisping on the edges of the pan.
love these! cook them all the time:)
I have made these for years only using only semi-sweet chips. It is a family favorite.
i like to make these without butterscotch chips. num num num!
I was so thrilled to find this recipe. I worked at this great gourmet cafe / specialty foods market and one of my favorite things that we sold were called "Magic Cookie Bars". Who knows how many pounds I have gained from these delicious treats alone. I was thrilled when I found your recipe. I modified it just a bit to make it more like the ones we sell ($2 a bar!!). I used regular choc. chips and layered chips, coconut, chips on top and instead of pouring the can of condensed milk on the bottom i poured it on the top (like we do at the store). I can not thank you enough for helping me find this recipe. There are other Magic Cookie Bar recipes out there but this one is the best on recipezaar. Thank you Miss Erin Clotfelter. You are my hero! :)
