Found this at Good Food Matters blog: and wanted to save it for trying. I have not used it yet but want to try it for this coming cold and flu season.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 14 teaspoon cayenne
  • 14 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar (an organic one, like Bragg's, is preferred.)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon honey (use a locally produced raw honey, if possible.)

  1. Dissolve cayenne and ginger in cider vinegar and water. Add honey and shake well.
  2. Take 1 T. as needed for cough.

I had seen this on Pinterest, also, so one night when my coughing was keeping me up I mixed some of this up, took a spoonful, and my coughing stopped right then and there. Ever since then, I keep some of this made up. I love that it's natural, without extra ingredients and dyes my body doesn't need. It doesn't taste as good as the OTC cough meds but it's sure a heck of a lot cheaper. Thanks for publishing this here, Cookworm.

My DH has a bad cold and a cough, so I went looking for a home remedy and this really helped his cough. Frankly I was surprised, but relief was almost immediate. I did add an extra T. of honey just to disguise the cayenne. Thanks for posting!
