My brother-in-law is Macedonian and he got this recipe from a corn vendor outside a Macedonian grocery store in Toronto. He made this for us at a BBQ the other night, very tasty. Each person gets to decide just how much spice they want.
- 6 ears of corn
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 lemons, cut in thirds
- 1 tablespoon masala
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- Barbeque shucked cobs of corn directly on rack.
- Roll cobs in butter.
- Make a slice in each piece of lemon and sprinkle some masala and chili in it.
- Use one lemon piece for each cob of corn.
- Rub seasoned lemon all over the cob of corn.
in your ingredients you have 'masala' down, which is an Indian spice blend, but your instructions mention 'marsala', which is a wine. I would assume you mean 'marsala' as masala is not known, traditionally, in this part of the world.
I don't know about the "ethnicity" of this recipe, as discussed by previous "reviewers", but it is delicious! The combination of the smoke from the bbq, the citrus and the masala is great. And so easy. I used Recipe #239208.
On the west coast of Canada, masala IS well known owing to a large East Indian population I suppose. I can well imagine Ottawa being unaware. (-:
