M&M Cookies

"Not my favorite, but children always seem to enjoy these. *Please note the change in the amount of flour since my original post. didyb is right, I had a typo here. I'm sorry that affected your outcome bellisima :("

• Ingredients: 9
• Yields: 2 trays

ingredients

• 1 cup shortening
• 1 cup brown sugar, packed firm
• 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 1⁄4 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 1⁄2 cups M&M's plain chocolate candy

directions

1. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract thoroughly.
2. Sift flour, soda and salt.
3. Add dry ingredients gradually to creamed mixture.
4. Mix well.
5. Stir in M&M's.
6. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
7. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.

I use to make these all the time, nice quick cookies that require little effort.

This recipe has been a staple in my family for generations- However, we use 2 1/4 cups flour instead of the 1 1/4 cup stated.

Flavor was ok but cookies were rather flat, stuck to the pan, even with 1 c shortening. However, this was easy to prepare & made with ingredients I already had on hand so it was good for a quick "sweet cookie" fix.
