I got this recipe a long time ago and there are my stand by candy recipe. It is so simple and easy and it takes hardly no time at all. Great for that chocolate and peanut butter fit that we all have... I make these to put in my christmas baskets also and they r always the first to go! They only problem I have with them is I keep them in the fridge and everytime I open the door one jumps right in my mouth!! lol They never last long around our house they r a family favorite!!
- 1⁄2 cup butter or 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 1⁄2 cup baking cocoa
- 1 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 cups oatmeal (or just until you can form into balls)
- In large sauce pan on low to med melt butter add peanut butter ,sugar ,cocoa & vanilla stir until melted and bubbling some. Remove from heat & stir in oatmeal till you can form into balls ( I do this but running my hands under cold water and forming the balls with my hands but be careful it will be Hot! refergiate till hardened ( a couple of hrs).
This was quick and easy to make and the cookies set up nice and firm in the refrigerator... great tasting too! Great recipe for the summer when you don't want to use the oven.
