ingredients
- 236.59 ml granulated sugar
- 118.29 ml margarine or 118.29 ml shortening
- 1.23 ml butter flavoring
- 59.16 ml buttermilk
- 4.92 ml baking soda
- 2 large eggs, slightly beaten
- 4.92 ml vanilla extract
- 473.18 ml all-purpose flour
- 2.46 ml salt
- 473.18 ml apples, cored, finely chopped
- 118.29 ml chopped nuts

Topping
- 29.58 ml margarine
- 29.58 ml granulated sugar
- 29.58 ml all-purpose flour
- 2.46 ml cinnamon
- 2.46 ml burnt sugar flavoring or 2.46 ml caramel flavoring
directions
- Cream sugar, margarine, and butter flavoring until smooth and fluffy.
- Mix together buttermilk and baking soda, then add to the sugar mixture.
- Add the beaten eggs and vanilla and mix well.
- Stir in flour and salt, mixing just enough to combine (leave some lumps).
- Fold in apples and nuts.
- Pour into greased& floured loaf pan.
- Combine topping ingredients and drop blobs of topping over the top of the batter.
- Bake in a preheated 350 F oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick tests clean.
- Cool on wire rack.
