directions

  • In a large pot combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil - reduce heat and allow soup to gently simmer for approximately 2 hours stirring occasionally. The closer to 2 hours this soup cooks the better it tastes.
  • Approximately 6 grams of carbs per serving.

Questions & Replies

  1. Can I make this in a slow-cooker? (And, if so, how long would I cook it on low?)

  2. So if it is low carb, how many carbs in a serving?

  1. Delicious! I didn't have 2 cans of black beans so I added I can of black beans and one can of white northern beans and it was amazing! Will definitely make this often for a low carb diet.

  2. Pretty Tasty! I added white beans with the black beans. Hubby enjoyed, but a bit too spicy for him. Easy to make. Next time I will put less spice in it. Over all, very good.

  3. Whether you call it low carb or not, this is the most flavorful black bean soup I have had for a long time. I pretty much followed the recipe except I used 1/2 the salt and only cooked it 1 hour (I was afraid most of the broth would evaporate) but left it on the burner for another hour to go do some errands. When I came back, it was heavenly!!

Hi and thank you for visiting my about me page... I have 2 very handsome sons that are my pride and joy. My partner is the man i was to marry when i was 18 years old - unfortunately we got cold feet and i moved away - we have reunited after searching for each other for 25 years and are making our home in Calgary - we are eventually going to make it to the altar. Our rescue dog Nikki and my son's Cat Saichel are our fur babies. I was the lucky recipient of a premium membership donated by a very generous chef here at Zaar and to show my appreciation i have tried to continue to fulfill my responsibilities to ensure premimum membership continues. However, I have run into a little snag but am working on it. I am looking forward to the day when I can reciprocate and offer someone else the joy of premium. Pet peeves in life are inconsiderate & ignorant people & slow drivers. Life goes by fast - why not drive the same speed......
