You have so many wonderful recipes, Linda. Thank you for sharing! I didn't have tomato puree on hand, so I substituted 2 28-oz. cans of petite diced tomatoes and 2 28-oz. cans of crushed tomatoes. The resulting sauce is pretty exceptional.

Aunt Linda, I was looking for a new spaghetti sauce and came across yours. I couldn't wait to make it as you made it one time when I was at your house and it was even better than my moms. Shhh - Don't tell her that!. Cassie absolutely loved it and was raving about it to her mother when we went over there to bring her some of the leftovers. She later called us and said it was better than hers! Such good flavor and a great blend of ingredients for the perfect sauce. Take it from an Italian, this one is "The One"! So glad you posted it on here so I have it handy. Mike

Hi Linda,

This recipe is so close to mine! (Though I have to say, mine isn't mine, it is old school navy!) Uncle Sam's Meaty Spaghetti Sauce I liked the tabasco touch, it is a bit different and probably adds a nice twist! Like Charlee, I love Kittencal's meatballs too, really great compliment to both sauces.

This was good but just too sweet for our taste. I used ground sweet sausage so just cooked that right in with the hamburger meat and that might have been the problem. I cooked it for about 7 hours. After 5 hours I added additional seasonings of oregano, Parsley, more red pepper flakes, some fresh ground pepper, and some garlic salt. But it still was just too sweet. Although not mentioned in the ingredient list, I did add about 1 cup of a nice Merlot. Thanks for sharing. This made a huge amount. Made for the diabetic forum. :)

This sauce is probably the best we have ever had. My family ate like little piggys! I made meat balls and added them to the sauce. Had with Italian bread and salad on the side. Great meal and enough left over for a few more lunches, which we love!

This sauce is about the best I have had. I really mean that. It has a great balance of flavors and I put it to excellent use making Baked Ziti and using the sauce in this dish. What a meal we had! I also had the sauce over whole wheat pasta a few days later, and let me tell you, it was even better after the ingredients had a chance to marry in the fridge. This will be used often in my pasta dishes. We really think it is superb!

This was a winning sauce for everyone eating here! My DW asked me to make some up and freeze it so we can have it when the weather is hot and not heat up the house making it from scratch so that's exactly what I did! Awesome sauce that will be enjoyed many times over using this recipe! Thanks for sharing!

I used just the sausage in the recipe and then added in Kittencal's Italian Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meatballs, to have for our dinner tonight. The smells coming from my kitchen right now is awesome! The meatballs are so tender and the sauce is so delicious, I can't wait to eat! I will be serving with homemade Italian bread and a nice salad.

I made this sauce, minus the meat and added Healthy Meatballs, to the sauce. The sauce was awesome, and we loved the addition of the meatballs in place of the scrambled beef and pork. We had the sauce over spaghetti squash with the meatballs and a slice or two of whole wheat Italian bread. What a great meal! Thank you!
