This recipe is from a childhood friend's mother, Linda. She makes it for her family and I was lucky enough to be included. I'm not a huge fan of maple syrup so this is a very yummy alternative! (Yield is approximate.)

This is the recipe my mom always used to make syrup for very special family breakfasts. So delicious poured over a pile of thick steaming slices of french toast- my mouth waters just thinking about it! Thanks for posting- I am adding it to my cookbooks right now so I don't forget about it again.
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1⁄2 cup light Karo syrup
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 3⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 cup evaporated milk

- Combine sugar, syrup, water and cinnamon and cook over medium heat until syrup comes to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Boil for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
- Stir in evaporated milk and enjoy!
- Very yummy on french toast, pancakes or waffles!
