Limonada is a refreshing wine beverage popular in the Basque region of Spain. From Classical International Recipes. Posted for ZWT. Cooking time is chilling time!
- Thinly peel seven 6 inch long strips of lemon peel to make spirals. Set aside.
- Squeeze lemons to measure about 1 cup juice. Stir together lemon juice, red wine, white wine, and sugar.
- Chill the mixture thoroughly. To serve, pour over ice cubes in glasses, garnish with a lemon sprial.
What a terrific drink. Quick and so easy to make, with the flavor of traditional sangria. I enjoyed this sassy drink very much; it had a hint of sweetness, tart, tangy, lemony and full of depth. I used a chardonnay and my favorite red wine (Big House Red), which worked beautifully in this drink. Thank you for sharing a drink that I will make again and again.
I love this - a little sangria, a little rock n' roll! Thanks for an easy summer beverage. Made for ZWT 8.
Boy I loved this! I made individual servings, proportioned as the recipe specifies, and used Splenda to sweeten. Crisp and fresh tasting and not too sweet - terrific - thanks for sharing the recipe!
