Licks' Famous "Secret Sauce"

Licks was first established in the Toronto neighbourhood I live in, back in the late 70s. I remember the first store, with its 2 booths. They now have numerous locations. This is their "secret sauce", which was published in a Canadian magazine back in 1984. So, it's not so secret when you have the recipe!

Ingredients:

Servings: 6

• ½ cup mayonnaise
• 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
• 1 pinch dry mustard
• 1 pinch garlic powder
• 1 pinch onion powder
• 1 pinch celery seed
• 2 tablespoons half-and-half (table cream)

Directions:

1. Whisk all ingredients together; add more cream if you think it's too thick for your tastes.
2. Spread on freshly bbqed hamburgers, top with tomato slices, and enjoy!

Long time ago I had a recipe similar to this, but I lost it! Sad me. So happy to find this! I changed it a bit to my memory of my lost recipe. I added in more mustard powder and tossed in some Worcestershire sauce. Put just enough relish in it to give it the taste of pickles without being overwhelming and halved the cream. I'm so happy I found this! We're putting this on our burgers tonight. Thanks!

I have made this sauce a few times now. And have decided I like a 1/4tsp of onion and garlic powder and mustard and celery seed and only 1 tblsp of half n half.Ive used this recipe for ham sandwiches as well as burgers. Very nice change from the usual ketcup and mustard.I plan on using it alot. Thank U for this recipe..
