This was very good and easy to make. Added a very meaty ham bone to the pot, then de-boned it at the end of the cooking time. I used fancy red lentils. I took it upon myself to read between the lines and added 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper instead of just plain black pepper. Loved the added heat. You can't go wrong with a crockpot recipe in my book.

  1. Combine first 11 ingredients in an electric slow cooker.
  2. Cover with lid, and cook on high-heat setting for 3 to 4 hours, or until lentils are tender. Discard bay leaf. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
