    Hardy and easy stew that will warm you on a cold winters day and fill your belly without emptying your wallet. My family in Germany uses smoked and salted pork belly but smoked bacon works very well, too.

    Directions:

      Dice potatoes and carrots small.

      Ad lentils, potatoes and carrots and the bacon or pork belly slices in a large pot, season and boil with 2 cups of broth and 1 cup of water for approximately 1 hour. Ad the remaining 1 cup ounce by ounce if stew gets too thick over time.

      Stew is best re-heated the next day :D if you want it quicker just let stew cool down and re-heat. Stew should be very thick with little liquid.
