Mixed feelings on this one, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Coworker and DH both said it was a little on the bland side and average. They felt it could have used more "spicy" spices to liven it up a bit. They both, however, agreed that the Lentils were very tasty in it and gave the sloppy Joes a unique texture. I personally thought it was wonderful every which way and around. FYI - I used ground turkey instead of beef and still felt it turned out great. If you are into a more spicy sloppy Joe, you will need to add more seasonings. If you aren't and want more of a mild sloppy Joe, make this meal 'as-is'. I love the lentils in it. I never would have added them on my own (not a big lentil fan), but they were great!

Yum! I rated it a 4 because my family liked it but didn't rave about it. My toddlers wouldn't eat it and my oldest child didn't hate it :)
I thought it was REALLY good! I appreciate the comments about it being bland. I added a vegetable bouillon cube to the water, and about 4oz green chilis. Since lentils are best when they soak up flavors I cooked the ground turkey, onion and garlic then put all ingredients in the crockpot on high for 3.5hrs. Texture was great. I love lentils and was really happy with this.

We really loved this. I did use homemade tomato sauce and stock in place of the water, both of which I had in the freezer. Otherwise followed the recipe. The kids gobbled it up and hubby and I enjoyed it too. It's a very nice tomato flavor with a little zip from the vinegar. Thanks!
