I LOVE citrus -- and these muffins fit the bill! I fill my muffin cups fairly full so I usually get less than 24 muffins.

  1. Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and lemon juice.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
  3. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
  4. Fill 24 greased or paper lined muffin pans 2/3 full.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Brush muffins with orange glaze while still warm.
  7. Serve warm with chilled orange butter.
