This is great to sweeten and add a lemony zing to tea or fruity beverages. It will keep in the fridge for up to 1 year. You can also dilute the syrup with cold water and ice to make lemonade. You can substitute the lemon juice with orange, grapefruit, lime or any other juice that suits your fancy. MMMMMM!
- Place sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool.
- When cool, add juice and stir to mix.
- Pour syrup into a glass jar and seal. Store in the refrigerator.
This is a great idea, and it makes better lemonade than I have ever bought! A lot of room in my fridge is taken up by my water filtering contraption. This way I can have cold water and cold homemade lemonade without filling the whole refrigerator. I added the sugar syrup to the lemon juice gradually, to taste, and didn't end up using all of it. Real, pure cane sugar gave it a great flabor. I like your idea of using other juices as well.
I made lemonade out of this, and it's quite good, but next time I will use more lemon and less sugar. Just my personal preference for lots of lemon flavor. It is an excellent idea, I'm very glad this is in my fridge and I can make lemonade whenever I feel like it.
