Christmas cookies

  1. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add milk, lemon peel, lemon oil and egg; blend well.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. mix well.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 400.
  6. Roll dough 1/3 at a time to 1/8" thick. Cut star shaped cookies.
  7. Bake for 5-8 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and cool completely.
  9. In a small bowl combine 2 cups powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons lemon juice and 1-2 tablespoons water; beat until smooth.
  10. Stack pairs of stars, alternating the points with the glaze holding them together and on top.
  11. Sprinkle with yellow sugar.
