Another topping for Christmas Pudding. This is also Grandma's recipe. She served it in a cream pitcher, hot.
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 lemon, zest of
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch, heaping
- Mix cornstarch with a little water for thickening agent.
- Boil water and sugar 5 minutes, add cornstarch mixture.
- Cook 8 to 10 minutes, add lemon, zest and butter.
- Stir until butter melts.
- Serve at once.
