Very nice! I made this yesterday afternoon and it is delicious. I had some thick cream left over, so I served it with a dollop and a cup of good coffee. I actually halved all the cake ingredients and only made one, but used the full syrup ingredients (effectively doubling the syrup) and the cake soaked it all up like a sailor on shore leave!
Delicious! I happen to love lemon cake, and this sort of reminds me of the kind that my friend makes! I made no alterations to this recipe, and I do not think it needs any. At least thats from my point of view. Thanks for the recipe!!
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL CAKE, but then I do love lemons! I made one little addition to the recipe in that I used a tablespoon of minced lemon zest in the topping, & while the glaze soaked into the loaves very nicely, as it did so it left behind little flecks of wonderful lemon flavor! Love, love, love this cake. Not sure if it is comparable to Starbucks ( we don't have one here- darn it! ) but I love the dense texture. Made it 2 times and both times made one cake with double the syrup-thanx to JustJim for this suggestion- and it soaked it all up!! YUM YUM YUM!!
Nice recipe, but a bit too heavy for my taste. Less eggs (& sugar) and more leavening might improve it.
