Great flavour combo, love the use of dates and how easy and wholesome the recipe is. I was able to soak the dates for nearly an hour and chopped them pretty well so they blended up nicely. Felt it needed a little seasoning, but aside from that, made as written. In fact I doubled the recipe thinking I'd have some for tomorrow...but it didn't last ;) Enjoyed with some bibb lettuce salad, and then over some hot boiled rice which was really delicious. Thanks Minde, always enjoy your recipes and I'm sure I'll be making this (and versions of it) many times.
Mindelicious-this was fabulous albeit unusual and different. My husband said it reminded him of Annie's Goddess dressing but a sweet version. I took your excellent suggestion and tried the dressing on greens (mixed and arugula, lovage for celery, cucumbers from the garden both standard and lemon, and red cabbage from the farmer's market). I think preparing the dressing the day before greatly enhanced the flavor, too. The combination of sweet dressing and pungent arugula and lovage was quite a symphony of tastes in our mouths. We want to make this again soon. Next time I'll be sure to cut up the dates into smaller pieces because they didn't all blend. Reviewed for Veg Tag September.
I cannot compare this to anything,as I never had anything with this taste. Very interesting and sweet tasting dressing.
This is actually eaten as a dip for bread in Iraq and gulf countries. Kurdish people traditionally add lemon juice. Others do not. Anyway it is very good.
Delicious! I didn' soak my date as it was fairly soft. I ate it on green lettuce with parsley and cilantro with tomatoes. I will be making this often as it is so healthy! Thanks! Made for the Vegetarian Swap-Nov. 2010.
This was EASY to make, and I loved the thick, "creamy" texture, but my husband and I both found it a tad too sweet. It was fun to try something different, though. Made for Veg*an Swap, July 2010.
