I know this one sounds odd but it is by far the best macaroni salad I have ever had. I make it for picnics and pot luck dinners.
- 1 (5 1/2 ounce) package Kraft macaroni and cheese
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1⁄2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1⁄4 cup chopped green onion
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
- 1 cup Miracle Whip
- 1⁄2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- Prepare Kraft Dinner as package directs.
- Set aside and let cool completely.
- When cooled add remaining ingredients into bowl and mix well.
- I like to garnish with slices of green pepper.
I have been looking for so long for a good Macaroni salad, this is it. After making it the first time my Dad made me make a double batch because it went so quick. Only change I made was we like our Macaroni salad a little sweet so I added 4 tablespoons of sugar to the sauce. this is a great salad!
Definitely a different macaroni salad. I was excited to try it because I'm not a big fan of the usual macaroni salad sauce, but am a mac and cheese lover. I really liked the sauce, but was not sold on the veggies added. We enjoyed it, but I think I would like a more "traditional" macaroni salad with this sauce instead even better. I actually made a triple batch of this to use up some cabbage we had on hand. It's been super hot lately, so I haven't been making traditional dinners. When I do cook, I'm trying to avoid using the oven and make things that can be served cold. It'll be nice to have the leftovers on hand too. Tonight we'll have again, probably with some hot dogs and maybe some jello.
this was pretty good! I nice change from plain ol macaroni salad. We were already having cole slaw, also....so I substituted peas, and and used a red pepper instead of a green pepper.
