It was in 1904 that Ovaltine was developed in Bern, Switzerland. And it has remained a staple milk-flavoring favorite since it was first introduced to the world market more than a hundred years ago. Here, it gets an update and is paired with a natural accompaniment for a creamy chocolate drink, peppermint! The great thing about this drink is that it can be served either cold or hot.
What%u2019s not to like? It%u2019s too hot here right now for hot chocolate, so I made it cold. And what was great was I had the Ovaltine in the pantry! Thanks for sharing. Made for ZWT7.

Mmmm, this was yummy! My son absolutely loves Ovaltine so we usually have some around, and for this drink mommy was more than happy to join him! Since it was early in the morning AND he is only 3 I chose to use peppermint extract instead of schnapps (rats!). I will be happy to revisit the adult version soon, though, and while we enjoyed it hot today I think it would be GREAT thrown in the blender for a bit of an adult milkshake/smoothie. Thanks, NorthwestGal! Made for ZWT 7 Switzerland.

I happened to have Ovaltine in the house as I was trying to convince my boys it was a good way to start their day in the morning. They weren't overly enthusiastic so I have loads left and was very excited to try this recipe thinking I definitely had peppermint schnapps. Alas, it was Creme de Menthe but I plugged along anyways, made it with heated milk, and I was definitely not disappointed. I heated some milk on the side as well and frothed it adding the froth on top. This will definitely be a lovely night cap I'll enjoy quite regularly, particularly in the winter ;). Thanks so much for sharing Vickie! Made and enjoyed for team Mischief Makers - ZWT, Switzerland :D
