I was glad to see a recipe similar to what I make to give to a friend because I, like my gram, never measured anything! I quarter a whole cabbage and precook it till 1/2 done then put the filling ontop of it. I don't use vinegar or ketchup instead I use a can of undiluted tomato soup& I drain a can of sauerkraut and lay it over the top of everything before cooking. I add more cut up canned tomatoes and tomato juice because I like alot of tomatoes.,my preferance.

I used a whole head of cabbage. And 1 lb of lean ground beef. I used only tomato sauce even instead of ketchup. I used 2 tomatoes, diced. Then after 4-5 hours, I added tomato juice, near 1 cup maybe. This is so yummy :) Thanks Vicki :) Made for Holiday tag

I needed a x-mas potluck dish for work. I didn't have time to make rolled cabbage rolls so I made this recipe. I would have made it exactly as written, only I forgot to add the tomato sauce. I made it in my electronic pressure cooker instead so that may have saved the loss of moisture & retained the flavours. It was amazing anyhow so next time I will only add 1/2 of the tomato sauce to see how it works. I really enjoyed the tart/vinegar hint of flavour. The rice wasn't prominant so I may also increase that abit. Fabulous recipe, thanks for sharing.
