Landgang

"An open faced sandwich from Norway. I sometimes use 4 hogie rolls in place of the long loaf to make four individual plates. Other lunch meats and cheeses can be used, tailor it to suit your tastes."

  1. It's a good thing that a Scandinavian open-faced sandwich is so versatile. I used the pate, the tomatoes, lemon gherkins, some slices of Recipe #370564, Recipe #307018 , ham, jarlsberg, muenster, cucumber, and leaf lettuce. Smash it down, and start eating! Yes, it was messy. Was it good? You bet! Have enough for another sandwich tomorrow. Thnx for sharing your recipe, Julie. Made for the Voracious Vagabonds of ZWT 6.

  2. I know it is supposed to be open-faced, but this was really messy to try and eat. However, the taste is very nice. I added some fresh basil leaves to the top, and I really liked that addition. Made for ZWT6 Zingo by an Unruly Under the Influence. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Had to make this for my husband, he loves sandwiches like this and he did love this one!! We both did. Great blend of flavors and except for being messy to eat (which actually made if a fun meal) all was great!!! Thanks for posting ZWT6

  4. Great sandwich, loved the pickle addition, and I agree to lessen the liverwurst a bit so the smoked salmon shines through! I had some great lettuces to sit a top the sandwich, and like another reviewer added some thinly sliced red onion. Perfection!! Made for ZWT6 - 2010

  5. This was a fun sandwish to put together. We loved all the flavors and different meats and cheeses. It was a tad messy, but what do you expect with all those ingredients on the sandwich. Made for Zingo, ZWT6

Hi, I'm a California native, traveled the world with my soldier hubby, then settled here in Kentucky, the land of racing horses and Burboun whiskey. I live alone now but my 2 DDs and 7 grandkids like just a few doors down so I always have a houseful I love to cook. It's really ALL about the food, isn't it? These days I look for recipes that are easy to prepare and easily made in smaller amounts, although I often will make a full recipe and freeze it in portions for days when I can't cook. Both DDs are my cooking buddies. Two or three times a week they come over and help with the prep and cooking, trying out the new recipes I've found here on Zaar. They also help with the eating, as do the SILs and grandkids. How I rate recipes: 5 Stars ~ Fabulous and I loved it just the way it is ~ Perfect. 4 Stars ~ Needs a tune up, a tweak here and there. A keeper. 3 Stars ~ A good idea that is not quite working. Repairs needed May or may not be a keeper. 2 Stars ~ This recipe would need a major overhaul to suit me. Probably will not make again. 1 Star ~ Just not my cup of tea ~ will not make again.
