Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Trim all fat from shanks.
  2. Dredge in flour with salt and pepper.
  3. Brown in fat in deep frying pan or dutch oven.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat.
  5. place onions and prunes on top.
  6. Cover and bake in a moderate oven (350) for 2 hours or until meat is tender.
  7. Serve sauce over shanks.

The flavours of this recipe was really wonderful. I cooked the shanks for about 3 hours on very low heat in the oven (160 C) and they just fell off the bone. Thank you for a very simple and flavoursome recipe!
