Amazing! Made all as directed apart from using hickory chips using a smoker box in a gas BBQ. The chicken was super moist, the meat had a perfect amount of smoke flavor and the skin was delicious. While I've smoked food a fair bit before the instructions are also really clear and precise for anyone who hasn't.

Really top-notch. I've had beer can chicken before, and it was pretty insipid, but this marinade changes all that. Chicken was wonderful, crispy skin, juicy meat, excellent hot and great cold as leftovers. Technique note: I used a can of Foster's Bitter -- you know, the big wide cans? It made a much better stand than the 22 oz tall cans. I used hickory chips (all I had) soaked in about 1/3 the beer for 45 minutes...drank some beer, and cooked on the rest. It worked like a charm. It's a very fuss-free cooking method that's going to be very popular around here during grill season!
