Really good and quick dinner. Easy to make, I think I would brown the sausage first, remove it and then procede with the recipe as written, adding the meat back in and heating through. This would give the meat a chance to brown a little better. The recipe, however, was good just as written.

This is a very good recipe and if you add scramble eggs to it it makes a great skillet breakfast thats sure to stretch your polish jeans, or if its a cold night and you'll be alone. Subsitutue swiss for the cheddar and add some kapusta(sauerkraut). Caution men this could be flamable.

This is going to be a new weeknight family favorite! I decided to take liberties with this recipe and turn it into a make-ahead freezer meal. I used a 9X9 foil pan, coated with non-stick cooking spray. Then I simply dumped in the frozen hashbrown potatoes, sprinkled with diced onions, salt and pepper. I melted the butter and drizzled over top of potatoes before adding the kielbasa and cheese. I covered with aluminum foil and froze like this. When I was ready to cook, I thawed in the refrigerator for the day and then baked uncovered at 350 for about 30-45 minutes. It turned out perfect! I know I will make this often since it is so easy and so good. Thanks for the inspiration.

This was great. I doubled the recipe since I'm feeding 3 hungry guys and added some green peppers. They didn't leave a bite and wanted more. Thanks for the recipe.

This was awesome! I did double it like one person suggested and I am glad I did. The only thing I did different was use the o'brien potatoes with onion and green peppers. Thats all they had at the store. I still added the onion and it was delicious!!!

This tasted great but I doubled the recipe and I used frozen shredded potatoes. Even doubled it was barely enough for four adults. I don't know how this could possibly feed four people unless 2 are kids and no one eats much. I presume the cube-cut potatoes cook down a lot less than the shredded. I will make it again but I'll need to triple the recipe. :-)

This was really good and "kwick"! :) I used boiled potatoes as I didn't have any frozen ones, it worked out perfectly. It was a great dinner to put together after a day of holiday baking. I would certainly prepare this again!

I gave it 3 stars because it tasted good. It stuck to my pan and never browned, just made a mess.

Thank you so much for this recipe, Lorac! I've only just begun cooking and, being a young bachelor, find this is practically the perfect meal for me. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner! I sometimes sub in Johnsonville spicy or andouille sausages b/c I usually have those on hand. I'll often throw a fried egg over top as well. Thanks again for my first favorite recipe!

Had this last night and it was easy, quick, and hubby enjoyed it-- can't ask for more than that!! I did make a bigger batch (hubby is a big eater), so I used 4 T butter, a whole bag of Ore-Ida O'Brien potatoes (about 6 cups, I think), a large onion, a 14 oz package of kielbasa, and I threw in a few pinches of garlic powder and an herb blend from Penzey's called "Krakow Nights"-- has coriander, mace, sage, etc. in it but it is NOT very strong. We added the cheese when we served it, and hubby and I both sprinkled on some Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Hubby had just about finished his serving before I could even sit down! I bet other herbs and spices (whatever you think you would like) would be good in this, too, and the only change I would make the next time is to use less butter-- I think 2-3 tablespoons would have been enough. This sounds so simple I was wondering how good it really would be, but it was absolutely delicious and I'm adding it to my weeknight menu list! Thanks Lorac!

We really loved this! It was the perfect quick dinner for a busy night. Chad is a meat and taters guy so this was right up his alley and all in 1 skillet! I used more onion, mainly just to use up what I already had chopped! I'll definitely be making this again!

Comfort food at it's best! Great combination of flavors and the aroma as it cooked was heavenly. The only thing I did differently was to brown the sausage before adding to the potatoes. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

This was super easy and tasty. I think I prefer Kielbasa now when it comes to sausage. I used regular frozen hash browns since I didn't have O'Brien and it was still great. Would have added extra cheese if I had more and I sprinkled cajun seasoning on the potatoes while they cooked. Served it with honey butter biscuits for a kind of breakfast-dinner. I'm always looking for new ways to serve sausage, will make this one again, thank you!!

Thank You for a fast easy breakfast to make my brother. He came by and was playing with the computer and I jumped in the kitchen and had this cooking up. He started smelling all the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen and a big smile came across his face. I followed your recipe to a "T". and he loved it just as much as he did smelling it. I did too!!!!!! Hugs

Hubby and the kids loved this for breakfast today! I didn't have frozen potatoes so had to dice the fresh yellows I had on hand. I also added 2 cloves of minced garlic (...to keep the vampires away...Hey, don't knock it. We haven't seen one yet). I threw the mixture of onions, garlic, potatoes and kielbasa into a covered skillet over medium heat and stirred occasionally while making the biscuits and scrambled eggs. The cheese went on top and I replaced the lid so it melted nicely down through the potatoes. They were excellent! I'm planning on serving this for Christmas brunch. Thanks so much for sharing Lorac!!
