These are fantastic. I've been making them for years. The only thing I do different is use thawed frozen bread dough instead of the hot roll mix. Also, you can make appetizers by rolling up the meat/cabbage mixture in egg roll wrappers and deep fry. Yummy. We use a hot mustard sauce to dip them in.

they were so good, i made these as you said, but i added 4 cloves of garlic since we love garlic. it is a good recipe

My Grandmother used to make these all the time when I was younger and I loved them. Only she called them Kraut Kukas. Never thought I would find the recipe thank you very much for sharing, it brings back memories of good times.

These are oh so good. A family favorite and one of dh's specialties. When he makes them he separates the dough into 4 servings so the sandwiches are larger but I like them that way. In Nebraska these are known as Runzas and sometimes they add a slice of cheese before they seal them - I prefer them just the way the recipe reads however.
