Kitty's Original 10 Bean Soup

- 453.59 g bag 15 bean soup mix or 453.59 g bag 10 bean soup mix, with cajun seasoning included
- 2 ham hocks
- 340.19 g can beer
- 473.18 ml chopped onions
- 473.18 ml chopped celery
- 2-4 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 can Mexican-style tomatoes
- 1 can diced tomatoes and green chilies
- 453.59 g hot Polish sausage
- 453.59 g raw boneless chicken breast
directions
- Sort and rinse beans.
- Combine beans, 7 cups water, beer, ham hocks, seasoning packet in large 6-8 quart pan.
- Bring to boil and reduce to a rapid simmer.
- Add chopped onions, celery, garlic and tomatoes to pan.
- Simmer, covered, for at least 2 hours.
- Remove ham meat, chop fine, and add rest of meat, cut into small chunks.
- Simmer for 1 hours more until beans are soft.
- *Mynotes: I did not use but about 4 cups of water, as we like it thicker.
- And I had to cook it a long time, to get the big beans tender.

I'm a greatgrandmother and a cookbook and recipe collector. I like to garden ( mostly herbs ) and am a retired learning disability teacher. Right now I"m teaching half time English as a Second Language.. I don't have a favorite cookbook but I like the Junior League books . I like Marcella Hazan's cookbooks and Mexican cookbooks. I recently got a greenhouse and am rasing unusual vegetables. WE are adding a second greenhouse for more grow your own vegetables.
I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia on the river. My pet peeves are people with phones glued to their ears and who are unaware of the world around them.
