I've have been making this for years, it's still a family favorite! Adjust all ingredients to taste.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 -2 tablespoon butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (I use Kraft singles for this they melt the best!)
  • 8 slices white bread, toasted
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

Directions

  1. In a skillet melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Crack the eggs and add to the pan and cook to desired doneness.
  3. Just before the eggs are cooked place one slice of cheese over each egg.
  4. After the cheese has melted place each egg on a toasted piece of bread then sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
  5. Spread the mayo and ketchup on the remaining slices of bread and cover the eggs with the bread slices.
  6. Serve warm.

It was good. I used shredded cheddar cheese and low calorie bread which cut down on calories. Didn't particularly like the ketchup. Will omit next time

This was good, nothing exceptional. I did like the idea of toasting the bread. Regardless, I love trying new recipes, so thank you.

I have been making this for many, many years. The mayo is new to me, but oh, so good. In the past, I always used thinly sliced onion and ketchup and that was all, but the mayo was a nice addition and so was the cheese. This is a totally yummy sandwich. Thanks for posting it, Kitten.
