This was most excellent. I was looking for something just a tiny bit different so I like the idea of the crust on the top and bottom. I made this recipe in two 8 inch square pans. I used 1 and 1/2 cups of the oatmeal mix on the botton of each pan. Didn't use nuts because of a family allergy. Using the smaller pans I cooked it for 30 mins. This will be my go to apple crisp recipe from now on.
I took this dessert to a Bible study last night and there was hardly any left. It was so good and moist. I halved the amount of sugar in the crust and topping and used only 6 medium apples as that was all I had; it took about 40 minutes to cook and the crust was perfect. It was delicious. I served mine with homemade whipped cream. YUMMY!
If Kittencal posted it - you know you can't go wrong! Another perfect recipe! Hubby doesn't eat nuts so I have to omit them but man, oh man you never miss them! Have made this with crust on bottom and also with tossing all the crust on top! It's just amazing either way! Smells the whole house up cooking and the aroma is to die for! Thanks again Carol!!!
Thanks again Kittencal for another great recipe. I used 1/2 cup of of granulated sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and substituted the regular flour for a gluten-free flour blend to adapt this for my daughter. Everyone really enjoyed it, I will definately make this one again.
You must have been reading our minds! We were both craving apple crisp but couldn't find a recipe w/ pecans ~ then I found yours! Loved it! We made ours w/ Honey Crisp Apples, can't wait to look through some of your other creations! Thanks - Tammy & Scott

OOOOOO-MY God, kit you have the best recipes, I urge everyone to make this, it's much better than boring apple crisp, it's the best served when it comes out of the oven with tons of vanilla ice cream, okay I'm off to make another one, TRY THIS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!
This is absolutely delicious! I used Macintosh apples, half the sugar in the filling, an extra half teaspoon of cinnamon and pecans. Oh my! This dessert has such great flavor, especially for autumn.
This was a nice treat on a cold fall evening. I could have stood a little more sugar on the apples, but then again, I used Granny Smith, since the sweet/tart flavors are appealing to me. Thanks for sharing.
