I have been sharing these cookies since I got the recipe in the paper cookbook that came with my Kitchenaid Mixer 20 years ago, now if someone ask for it I tell them to google "Kitchenaid chocolate chip recipe" it is best! I always use real butter, real vanilla and large eggs.
I finally lost my cookie page in my book, you are my hero! Thank you!
I'm a baker, raised in a baking family. My own family gets homemade cakes, cookies and sweetbreads at least once a week. When it comes to chocolate chip cookies, it's one of those foods where people like what they were raised with. I was raised with variations on the tollhouse cookie recipe. Over the past couple of years I found my cookies were spreading too much. I tried this recipe on a whim based on the reviews. This recipe yields a less than sweet, cake type cookie that leaves something to be desired. I've now doctored my original tollhouse recipe, and my husband and sons are eating these cookies to hold them 'til they get the good stuff at Christmas.
This recipe was great! I had tried another one straight from the M&M bag...I had to throw the whole batch out...the cookies fell flat. This recipe worked out flawlessly! I got pics to prove it! I will definitely be putting this set of instructions in my recipe box! Thank you! (Btw...I put in chocolate chips and M&Ms!--I got pics of the batter and the outcome! Yum!)
I don't know what it is about this recipe, but these are THE best chocolate chip cookies. My adult son started making these when he got a KitchenAid. Now, I never use any other recipe.
And I thought I knew it all!
I use a medium sized cookie scoop and the cookies are a perfect size to go with the perfect cookie.
I am a non-baker. I don't enjoy baking and honestly, I'm not very good at it. So when I made cookies for my parents they were skeptical... but their reviews said it all! They said these cookies were perfect! This is absolutely the only chocolate chip cookie recipe you will ever need. Better than Tollhouse, Neiman Marcus, Thomas Keller or any other! I definitely agree with using butter, much better results.
Jessie, thanks for posting this...I did loose my Kitchenaid. This is the ONLY chocolate chip cookie recipe I use. I've tried the Tollhouse and this is much better.
I use this same recipe. I made two batches tonight, one with butter and one with margarine. Always use butter. The difference in the doughs is remarkable. With the butter you get a creamy smooth dough. With margarine the results are sticky with a shiny oily look.
This is a very good recipe, I get lots of complements on the cookies, but I will never again make them with margarine.
