- 29.58 ml butter
- 453.59 g kielbasa (Polish Sausage)
- 236.59 ml onion, chopped
- 473.18 ml celery, chopped
- 1419.54 ml cabbage, shredded
- 473.18-709.77 ml carrots, peeled and sliced
- 1 large bay leaf
- 2.46 ml dried thyme
- 29.58 ml vinegar
- 59.16-88.74 ml maple syrup (depending on how much sweetness you'd like to peek through in the recipe)
- 9.85 ml salt, to taste
- 473.18 ml beef stock or 473.18 ml broth
- 1182.95 ml water
- 709.77-946.36 ml potatoes (I like either new red potatoes or very small yukon golds, with the skins left on)
directions
- In a large soup pot, melt the butter.
- Add the onion and celery and cook until tender.
- Add the water, beef stock or broth, cabbage, carrots, bay leaf, thyme, vinegar, maple syrup and Kielbasa.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
- Add the potatoes, cover and continue to simmer for 20 minutes more or until the potatoes are done.
